If you are a new seller on Flipkart or any other online marketplace and want your products to be visible on Flipkart search pages, the only option is to run advertisement campaigns. To be organically visible you need to be in the silver tier or above and the only option for new sellers is to run Flipkart advertisement campaigns because Flipkart believes ‘Jo diktha hai, vo biktha hai’. So for your products to sell, it has to be visible. 

Here is how you can run a campaign

Running a campaign is not rocket science, anyone can do it. Login to the Flipkart seller panel and click on the ‘Advertising’ option from the main menu. Here you will find options to create a campaign under the Campaign Manager option, wallet and reports. Before you run a campaign ensure that you understand what a campaign is, different types of campaigns, what a wallet is and how it is used. 

How to add money to your Flipkart Wallet

Before you run an ad campaign, you need to add money to your Flipkart wallet. There are 2 ways in which you can add money to your Flipkart Wallet. You can either transfer money from your credit/debit card to Flipkart via the Net Banking method. Or you can opt for the COD option and give permission to Flipkart to withdraw money from your Flipkart payment balance. Once you have money in your Flipkart Wallet, you can start running campaigns. 

Steps to Create a Flipkart Advertisement Campaign

  • Select ‘Campaign Manager’ from the left-hand side menu of the advertising page. Then click on the ‘Create Campaign’ button.
  • Give a campaign name. Give a name you can relate to or understand even after stopping the campaign. 
  • Next is to select the listings you want to run the campaign for.
  • In the next step, you need to define the budget, the campaign type, the duration of the campaign and the Cost Per Click. 
  • The minimum daily budget is Rs 300 and if you opt for the total budget campaign, the minimum amount is Rs. 1000.
  • Next, you need to decide on the CPC or cost you will be paying per click. Ensure to check the winning bid range and quote tour CPC accordingly

4 Points to consider when you run a campaign

  • Make sure you fix your campaign budget
  • Ensure that you define the type of campaign you want to run – A daily budget campaign or a Total budget campaign
  • Don’t forget to give an end date for your campaign. If you do not give an end date for your daily budget campaign, Flipkart will pull money from your sales balance to keep your campaign active. When this happens, you will be spending money unknowingly. 
  • Create separate ad groups for new, best selling and low-visibility products

You can review and create the campaign once you have given all the required details. 

Recent Update

There has been a recent update on ‘Flipkart Advertisement’ and there have been some major changes in how Flipkart will take up your money to run a campaign. Though the new user interface is active now (since 11-October 2023), the change has been effective since around the third week of August 2023. So if you noticed that money has been deducted from your Flipkart payment balance, then you can be sure that Flipkart used it to run your ad campaigns to keep them live. This was not the case earlier.

There was an option ‘Till Budget Ends’ earlier, which is now available only with the Total budget campaign. It has been removed from the daily budget campaign. So if you do not give an end date the campaign will run endlessly taking money from your Flipkart balance to your wallet. So keep your eyes wide open and start checking your account balance.
